Public Consultation
We intend to fully engage with public opinion in presenting the Phoenix Quarter proposals to as wide an audience as possible.
The objective is, and continues to be, to get as much feedback and opinion as possible so that, where possible, the plans have been amended and adapted to meet local views prior to the final planning application.
We have held three weeks of public exhibitions of the proposals at the Market Lane Garage, as well as cataloguing comments at the exhbitions we have also held public meetings, one chaired by the previous mayor. And have made on-going presentations to and discussions with many local groups including Friends of Lewes, Lewes Chamber of Commerce, Lewes Town Council.
In doing so we have had many enthusiastic comments as well as voiced fears and some strong criticism.
Angel Property has never stepped back from any discussions on the Phoenix Quarter because it believes that it is possible to create a dynamic new area in Lewes which can also be a lasting credit to the town and its people. In other words something which Lewes can be proud of and fits with its culture.
Certain key issues have been raised in this public consultation process. You will find a detailed response to many frequently asked questions in the next section.
Of course, if you don’t find your questions answered then please use the email form on this site. Everybody’s view is considered and groups like Friends of Lewes and Lewes Matters have been very helpful in raising public interest and awareness.
There is now also an exhbition of a 3D scale model, and artists impressions, at Lewes Town Hall until April 30th.
